TLS being deprecated in new MediaSeal KeyServer 7.1 Upgrade.
As part of the latest MediaSeal KeyServer upgrade we are deprecating support for older TLS versions. After the upgrade only TLS versions 1.2 or newer will be supported, this is to ensure we meet the latest industry security standards for TLS.
By deprecating support for older TLS versions, we will be requiring MediaSeal Encryptor users to be running Operating Systems newer than, and including, Mac OS X 10.9 and Windows 7 SP1. In addition, you will require a version of the MediaSeal Encryptor application of v4.5.0 or above, and / or a version of the MediaSeal App of v6.0.1 or above.
If you are already using a MediaSeal Client, along with a browser and operating system which supports TLS 1.2 you will not be affected by this MediaSeal upgrade.
To check your TLS version:
Windows
On Windows, from the start menu or control panel, open “Internet Options”. Select the Advanced tab, scroll down to the Security section and make sure the TLS 1.2 option is checked.
Mac / Linux
- On Mac, open the terminal on your computer
- To check compatible with TLSv1.2, type:
openssl s_client -connect YOUR_MEDIASEAL_URL:443 -tls1_2
- To check compatible with TLSv1.3, type:
openssl s_client -connect YOUR_MEDIALSEAL_URL:443 -tls1_3
- If on the last line, it shows “Verify return code: 0 (ok)” then your computer is compatible with that version of TLS.
* If you are unsure of “YOUR_MEDIASEAL_URL”, please contact the content owner for details.
