Can I use any application to access the encrypted files?
Answer
When it comes to accessing encrypted files, only applications approved by MediaSeal are allowed to open encrypted files. To ensure optimum compatibility, MediaSeal keeps an updated list of these approved applications. If there is a specific application you think should be added to the list, please reach out and submit a request. Please make sure to include the following information with your request:
- The application name
- The version of the application
- The website where the application can be downloaded from
- The process name (This is typically the .exe on Windows or the app name on MacOS)
- A description of the application and its intended use
After we gather the information mentioned above through a request, and once it receives approval, we add the application to the Application whitelist. Your Decryptor will then automatically update to reflect the new list.
How do you check the existing list of allowed applications?
1. Click on the MediaSeal Decryptor icon, running on your taskbar, near the sytem clock and hover over Configuration > Application whitelist.
2. The Application Whitelist menu will appear next. The applications are listed in alphabetical order.
