How to map a folder with MediaSeal FS?

Modified on: 2026-10-12 16:43:17 +0100

Mapping a folder connects a regular folder on your Mac to the MediaSeal Volume. Files you place in the mapped folder will appear in the MediaSeal Volume.

Steps

1. Deactivate the MediaSeal Volume

Open MediaSeal File System and click Deactivate. The volume must be inactive before you can change mapped folders.

2. Open Mapped Folders settings

From the menu bar, open MediaSeal File System > Settings, then select Mapped Folders.

3. Choose a folder to map

  • Click + Add Folder.
  • In the folder picker, select the folder you want to connect.
  • Click Map Folder.

4. Confirm the folder was added

Check that the folder appears in the Mapped Folders list.

5. Reactivate the MediaSeal Volume

Return to the main MediaSeal File System window and click Activate.

Use the Mapped Folder

  • Add or move files into the mapped folder.
  • Open those files from the MediaSeal Volume, not directly from the original folder in Finder. Direct access from the original folder is blocked.

If the Folder or Files Do Not Appear

  • In the main window, click Refresh to reload the folder and volume list.
  • Confirm the volume is Active and the folder appears in Mapped Folders.
  • Confirm the files are inside the mapped folder.
