What is a MediaSeal Volume?

Modified on: 2026-10-27 14:38:07 +0000

A MediaSeal Volume is a mounted location where you can access files from folders connected to MediaSeal File System. These connected folders are called Mapped Directories.

Opening protected files

Files from mapped directories appear in the MediaSeal Volume.

Important: Always open protected files from the volume. This allows MediaSeal to verify your access and decrypt the files. Protected files cannot be opened directly from their original folder in Finder.

Activating the volume

The MediaSeal Volume must be Active before you can use it. If its status is Inactive, open the MediaSeal File System window and activate the volume.
