How to configure Decryptor Inactivity?

Modified on: 2026-10-22 11:39:21 +0100

The Decryptor Inactivity setting automatically deactivates Decryptor users who have had no account activity for a specified number of days.

Configure Decryptor Inactivity

  1. Sign in to MediaSeal and open Settings.

  2. Scroll to the Decryptor Inactivity section.

  3. Select Enable to turn automatic deactivation on.

  4. In the Days field, enter the number of inactive days allowed before a user is deactivated.

    • The permitted range is 1-365 days.
    • The default value is 90 days.
  5. Select Apply to save the configuration.

Deactivations take place at midnight on the applicable day.

What counts as user activity?

MediaSeal considers the following actions to be Decryptor user activity:

  • Creating the user's account.
  • Editing the user's account details, such as their email address, first name or last name.
  • Adding the user to a Decryptor group.
  • Assigning the user to a job of any type.
  • A successful file open or re-authorisation reported by the Decryptor.

Denied file-opening attempts do not count as activity.

What happens when a user is deactivated?

A deactivated user can no longer perform activities that require an active account. However, offline files that the user can already access will remain accessible.

To reactivate a user:

  1. Open the decryptor user's profile.

  2. Select Activate.

Disable automatic deactivation

To stop MediaSeal from automatically deactivating inactive users:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Scroll to Decryptor Inactivity.

  3. Select Disable.

  4. Select Apply to save the change.
